Updated 4pm Sunday April 29
It should have been The One Week Of The Year for Channel Ten. The combination of a Biggest Loser finale and a Big Brother launch was supposed to give Ten the biggest audience share of all the networks. But in the end, it couldn't even come second.
Channel Seven emerged the winner, just as it has done every other week of the ratings year, with 27.4 per cent of the prime time audience. With no special programming, Nine managed 26.6 per cent, while Ten ended up with 23.7 per cent, the ABC got 16.4 and SBS got 5.8.
What went wrong? The ABC's Wednesday lineup of Spicks and Specks and The Chaser's War On Everything beat Ten's House, and Big Brother is performing well below expectations. Time for another spate of stories proclaiming "the end of Reality as we know it''.

Most embarrassing program of the past 12 months: The Wedge
Simply because it actually thinks it is clever!
Most overhyped program: Ugly Betty.
Stupid!
Most underrated program: Spooks.
THE most intense drama on TV!
Most jerked around by the networks: Six Feet Under
West Wing jerked around more, but at least it was shown! 6FU had 18 months off!
Furthest past use-by date: Bert Newton and his embalmer.
Gotta be! Though Ray is close...
Most unnecessary TV personality: Richard Wilkins
DULLDULLDULLDULL...Andrew G again close!
Best botox: Gretel Killeen
Add to that best sincerity simulator!
Worst network: Seven
Absolutely nothing but US imports and guffawing Sunrise! YUK!
The Black Bogie: Naomi Robson.
I hope she stays unemployed permanently!
Most embarrassing program of the past 12 months: Quizmania
Most overhyped program: The Chaser (Seems to be achieving a huge media profile despite the fact that this year and last year they've been drastically unfunny.)
Most underrated program: Spooks
Most jerked around by the networks: The Sopranos (The West Wing was treated well by the ABC this year.)
Furthest past use-by date: all members and former friends of the Corby family.
Most unnecessary TV personality: Lara Bingle.
Best botox: Gretel Killeen
Worst network: Ten (Because of the almost complete lack of Australian content. At least Seven and Nine have a little bit.)
The Black Bogie: Eddie McGuire
Only a couple - I support those who nominate Scrubs, Spooks, Boston Legal, Extras and Veronica Mars as tragically underated. (I hope those involved have the smarts to kill off Scrubs before it becomes Friends II or Seinfeld II). I'd add RockWiz, Spicks and Specks and Offsiders.
Nine is a shoo-in for worst network. No contest. Combining trash and ill-considered programming with "news" that amounts to station, commercial and political promos and adding Current Affair.
Past the use-by date - The Bill, the NRL Footy Show, 24, anything with CSI or Law and Order in the title. (I agree with all other nominations as well).
Most unnecessary person - Toby Lawson, who helps out with the Shute Shield call on the ABC. The bald squawking Kochie from Sunrise. Andrew O'Keeffe.
Somewhere there has to be a category for Iron Chef. The episodes are old, but the cheese is still fresh. And there's got to be a special detention room for the people who put on the sexual/violent porn of Law and Order: SVU at 8.30.
Most embarrassing program of the past 12 months: Today Tonight
Most overhyped program: Heroes
Most underrated program: Boston Legal (I LOVE it), VM, Spooks
Most jerked around by the networks: The West Wing (one of the best shows ever.. good on sorkin!)
Furthest past use-by date: Bert Newton and his embalmer + Corby.. honestly, who gives a damn about her?
Most unnecessary TV personality: Surprisingly, this goes to Andrew G instead of Lara Bingle...
Best botox: Gretel Killeen.. isn't she just bloody hideous?
Worst network: Ten, marginally beating Nine which had its share of pathetic programming by buying failed TV shows (cough, Justice)
The Black Bogie: Naomi Robson.. YUCK. Enough said.
Declining ratings for crap like Big Brother can only be a good news. Perhaps for season 8 next year, Ten can do a BB All Stars like the US version did in it's 7th season, offering the most popular contestants from each previous season, with tougher challenges than usual and a much bigger prize
Ten offer fanatical BB fans, the option to pay $40 and get extra, premium content on the official BB website, but to help cover the high production costs, it'd more sensible for Ten to form an alliance with Foxtel, who could be asked to pay Ten a 7 figure fee, or give them a profit percentage, to offer viewers a Big Brother channel (available at a higher cost to subscribers), letting fanatical, voyeur BB fans to watch season contestants 7 days a week, 24 hours a day (engaging in talking, showering, eating, etc.), as well as watch Ten's early and late weeknight and Sunday night shows. When Aus BB concludes, such a channel could even offer foreign English language versions of BB, such as UK, US, Canadian and Kiwi BB (if there is one) in their new seasons and some foreign versions with English sub-titles.
Most embarrassing program of the past 12 months: Cheaters
Most overhyped program: The Chaser
Most underrated program: Veronica Mars
Most jerked around by the networks: Fear Factor
Furthest past use-by date: All members and former friends of the Corby family.
Most unnecessary TV personality: Hotdogs
Best botox: Gretel Killeen
Worst network: SBS
The Black Bogie: Naomi Robson.
*By the way, I think Heroes is one of the most under-rated shows at the moment - its brilliant!
Most embarrassing program of the past 12 months: The Catch Up
Most overhyped program: The Chaser.
Most underrated program: Boston Legal
Most jerked around by the networks: The West Wing

Don't watch too much commercial tv.1) too much garbage.
2) Whenever I get to settle into a programme, the station takes it off air.
3) Really would wish, that the commercial stations get their clocks fixed.
Getting sick and tired of turning on the tv, to have a faceful of junk tv, for 10 or so minutes past the advertised time.
Can you please het your clocks set to the correct time.
Most embarrassing program of the past 12 months: A Current Affair.
Most overhyped program: Big Brother.
Most underrated program: Spooks.
Most jerked around by the networks: The West Wing.
Furthest past use-by date: Ray Martin.
Most unnecessary TV personality: Karl Stefanovic.
Best botox: Gretel Killeen.
Worst network: Nine.
The Black Bogie: Naomi Robson.
the biggest winner in tv this past year was me - i killed the remote and it was so liberating. when sbs started shoving ads in everywhere, and the abc dumbed their 7pm news down with that mindless "just recapping tonight's headlines" crap 8 minutes after they'd read it, well, that was the proverbial straw. and i've discovered the joy of amazon.com and jbhifi, so anything i really wanna watch is available sooner or later.
After purchasing an LCD TV and discovering while it improves picture quality, it does not improve content.
Lets see.
Most embarrassing program of the past 12 months: Celebrity Dog School (or whatever the hell it was called)
The Journalistic Mutton Dressed up as Lamb Award: Today Tonight and A Current Affair.
Most overhyped program: CSI Miami/New York/Maitland/Small claims court or whatever. Can't keep up with them all.
Violent Pornography Award: Law and Order SVU/ all the CSI's. Sex and death. Sex and death. Sex and death. Imaginative plot lines all the way!
Most underrated program:
Battlestar Galactica.
Most jerked around by the networks: The Sopranos, The West Wing, Scrubs, Battle Star Galactica. Six Feet Under (thank the Gods you can now buy these series on DVD and not be at the mercy of demented station programmers!)
Furthest past use-by date: Bert Newton (he's more machine now than man...)McLeod's Daughters ('Oh lets shag the farm hand and blow up a car...again!), Daryl Somers, Ray Martin, Schapelle and the Corby tribe(Proving there are worse things than the death penalty).
Most unnecessary TV personality: Karl Stefanovic (is he a robot?), Jessica Rowe (her voice has all the charm of two possums fighting on a tin roof at 3 in the morning) Lara Bingle ('Where the bloody hell are you now, Lara?')
Best botox: Gretel Killeen-when she sits still she looks like a stroke victim.
Worst network: Channel Nine by a long shot. SBS for putting adverts in your program-if I wanted ads I'd watch the other 3 commercial channels)
The Black Bogie: Naomi 'Horse head' (or should I say "N a a aaayommee" ) Robson.
Most embarrassing program of the past 12 months: The Wedge
Most overhyped program: Big Brother
Most underrated program: Shameless
Most jerked around by the networks: Veronica Mars
Furthest past use-by date: all members and former friends of the Corby family.
Most unnecessary TV personality:
Andrew G
Best botox: Tracy Grimshaw.
Worst network: Nine
The Black Bogie: Eddie McGuire
Most embarrassing program of the past 12 months: I actually like the Catch-Up ... I think Nine need to work with the format a bit to make it more appealing. However, there seem to be enough Libby lovers and Lisa loathers out there to keep it afloat at the moment. I actually think the most embarassing programme of the year is and continues to be Sunrise! From the list though? Quizmania, Abbamania, Today Tonight.
Most overhyped program: I thought the Biggest Loser was overhyped ... however, of the nominees, I'd suggest Heroes, I'm so over it (from the advertising) I didnt bother watching it!
Most underrated program: HANDS DOWN Veronica Mars. It's excellent. However, in my area it's shown early on a Saturday morning (sleeping or working time :( ).
Most jerked around by the networks: Well, as i dont like either Fear Factor Stargate, i dont much care about them and havent monitored their being stuffed around. The West Wing and Gilmore Girls get my vote. The West Wing was stuffed by the ABC when they initially got it, but redeemed themselves in November. That said, some guy from the Nine Network had said (about three years ago) that the West Wing had a small but dedicated audience (damn straight it did and more people seem to have joined it since going to the ABC)! Gilmore Girls - where and/or WHEN is it?
Furthest past use-by date: This category is impossible to pick. They are all tied, in my mind. Except Bert. The US has random old people who are considered to be beacons of wonderfulness ... apparently Bert is the Australian version. Plus, who could think Bert was outdated when Matthew ends up in court causing controversy (and we only know about it because he's Bert's son)!
Most unnecessary TV personality: Karl Stefanovic - i think he's taken the mantle from Richard!
Best botox: Honestly, I think Sam Newman's is best!
Worst network: Seven ... infomercials, NBC Today, Sunrise, Disney, infomercials, News (or faking it), infomercials, News (or faking it, again, or still), MASH, something with Andrew O'Keefe or Grant Denyer, infomercials, REALLY trying hard to pretend its actually news with Rosco, something with Andrew O'Keefe or Grant Denyer, infomercials, Passions and then the day begins again.
The Black Bogie: Eddie McGuire. At least Naomi Robson was typical of Seven personalities!
Most embarrassing program of the past 12 months: The Con Test
Most overhyped program: Ugly Betty
Most underrated program: Boston Legal
Most jerked around by the networks: Nip Tuck
Furthest past use-by date: Bert Newton and his embalmer
Most unnecessary TV personality: Hotdogs
Best botox: Gretel Killeen
Worst network: SBS
The Black Bogie: Eddie McGuire
Most underrated programme has to be Shameless. Quite simply the best thing that has been on free-to-air TV since Boys from the Blackstuff which was decades ago. Channels 7, 9 and 10 are an absolute disgrace full of dreadful people presenting dreadful shows. But the Black Bogie can have only one winner - Tim Bailey the weatherman fron Ten News. Without doubt the most annoying TV 'personality' since Jeannie Little had her first face-lift!
Most embarrassing? All good nominations - but I think I'll go with Today Tonight - only because I'm sure the producers know better.
Overhyped? Definitely Ugly Betty - I am so glad it's not rating - I was starting to think there was something wrong with me!
Under-rated? Boston Legal! Even I want to have sex with William Shatner!
Jerked? Sopranos and Scrubs - what a waste!
Use by? Sorry Bert - and can you take Kerri Anne with you when you leave?
Most unneccessary? I think Bridget Duclos on the Con Test - I reckon if Channel Ten burns to the ground, the cops should go easy on Bridget - I'd want to erase that evidence too...and an honourable mention to Mel from Sunrise....
Best Botox? And this award goes to Mel from Sunrise too - mainly because I read she claimed she NEVER would!!! C'mon Mel - give us a frown...oh? Not possible? Hmmm....
Worst Network...no clear leader...
The Black Bogie...sorry Mel....
Most embarrassing? The Wedge
Most overhyped Big brother when the program is not airing, all its commercials cut into other programs so much that it makes viewing any channel 10 program editing into absurdity.
Most under rated Has to be Boston Legal, the only fresh comedy around
MOst jerked around, Sopranos... when West Wing moved to ABC at least the showing times stayed where you could find them.
Furtherest past use by date, Daryl Somers and his unfunny one liners and 8 year old show off tricks on Dancing with the stars made the program hard to watch, At least Bert Newton knows he's only there because he's an 'icon'...
Most unnecessary poor Lara
Worst network Nine, with Eddie Mcguire's face squeezed in like the Hitchcock 30 seconds in his movies, it seems Nine is all commercials, Eddie McGuire, and - heaven forbid
CSI Miami with that horrid posing, pompous Horatio.
Black Boogie need you ask? Eddie McGuire wins hands down.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n242aCe1nrQ
It's just a small complaint about the world cup but what was it with channel nine that insisted on pulling the coverage the very second that the Australians were handed the cup?
This was historical and we left way too abruptly for the Sunday programme.
I realise everything ran overtime but I for one wanted to see the Australians celebrate.

Most overhyped program: Heroes
Most underrated program: Spooks

BLACK BOGIE - EDDIE MCGUIRE
I used to like Eddie on Millionaire. He now looks tired, disinterested and struggles to pronounce the easiest of words. I have serious doubts as to whether he even finished high school.
WORST TV SHOW IN THE HISTORY OF THE UNIVERSE - 1 VS 100
This show cannot be serious. The 'helps' are a joke, as is the show's concept, as are the contestants, as is the host.
A Current Affair, Today Tonight and Big Brother come close as complete embarrassments.
All I watch on TV is the news and sport.
Best show - easily Top Gear on SBS

The Black Bogie: Naomi Robson.
Oh great. The column sets it up so that one will have to wade through endless, near identical posts of people listing pet programs/people they love to hate. Sounds like fun, not! Honestly, I think the real Logie nominations would be better as the lists would be far shorter because one would have to nominate a program that's actually good. They would be very short lists indeed.
SBS is the best channel among the free-to-air ones.
It's a shame they started to show ads during the films, but I can understand they need the money as they're not like ABC, supported by the government with hundreads of millions of taxpayers dollars...
If you want to see crap, turn to 7, 9 or 10. But you can see quality shows on SBS.
I'm a bit tired though of the arab conflicts and terrorists related documentaries...

The Black Bogie: Naomi Robson
My perspective is a little different as I have just moved back to OZ having been abroad for the last ten years
Most embarrassing program of the past 12 months: Australia’s Funniest Videos. This programme gives me such a nasty headache (imagine eating ice-cream whilst having dental treatment for an exposed nerve). I could probably endure the homevideos, even though some of them are embarrassing viewing, BUT, why the voiceovers? Why? I just don’t understand…..
Most over hyped program: BB (though the TBL was a close second). Not just over hyped but the perpetrator of outright lies to its audience. Again they sneakily implied they would reveal Mr X to the housemates, and again, they lied. Allegedly they will show this tonight. I wouldn’t hold my breath; I could be dead if I took them at their word.
Most underrated program: (was) So You Think You Can Dance. Didn’t seem to get that much attention (though I can’t remember the overall ratings). It actually was good reality TV which I know is like believing in a mythological creature….it does exist in this instance…….
Most jerked around by the networks: Can’t say as I’ve only been back in Oz for 6mths
Furthest past use-by date:
Best Botox: The woman who does those goddamn awful infomercials on either Kerri-Anne or 9 AM…….I don’t know her name but she looks like she’s been frozen within an inch of her life
Most unnecessary TV personality: Can’t stand Jennifer Hawkins. She’s so perky. She seems to operate on two settings: Perky and Perky.
Worst network: All of the commercial FTA’s. All of them. Their disrespectful attitude towards their viewers seems to know no bounds: Excessive commercials, late running programmes, late programme changes, pulling programmes mid season, without explanation to the audience, lazy production values and deliberate misleading promos aimed at getting viewers to watch without actually delivering what was promised
The Black Bogie: Karl Stenchovic – charmless and patronising
Sorry for the length!
Most embarrassing program of the past 12 months: Quizmania (if you can really call it a program - their ad-libbing is cringeworthy)
Most overhyped program: Ugly Betty
Most underrated program: Family Guy (hilariously witty)
Most jerked around by the networks: Nip/Tuck
Furthest past use-by date: Bree Amer
Most unnecessary TV personality: Bree Amer (yes, I really can't stand her and her i-know-it-all-because-i-was-in-the-big-brother-house-myself-and-i-was-so-popular-because-i-made-it-so-far... shut up woman! you made it that far by default. BB's stuff up was popular, not you!)

Furthest past use-by date: Corby Family
Most unnecessary TV personality: Lara Bingle
Best botox: Tracy Grimshaw.
Worst network: Nine
The Black Bogie: Naomi Robson
Most under-rated: Spicks and Specks - best show on TV these days; outshines anything else by far.
Furthest past use-by date: Bert Newton with Eddie McGuire coming a close second.
Most over-rated TV show: 1 vs 100 - this show scares the daylights out of me; it doesn't matter how awful it is, you can bet your boots it will never be axed. Eddie the ego is never going to axe his own show!
Most jerked around: Today Tonight and A Current Affair. Jerked around in the sense that they aren't current affairs type programs anymore but a TV version of "No Idea", "Womens Weakly" or "Womans Daze". Tracy Grimshaw used to be a good reporter, but has demeaned herself being associated with such garbage.

Most unnecessary TV personality: Sam Newman
Best botox: Sam Newman
Worst network: Nine, for the use of Sam Newman
The Black Bogie: Sam Newman
Most Embarrassing Show: Quizmania
Also the most unwatchable show devised in Australian Television history. And that's a big call with the stiff competition that almost every new Channel 9 show has provided this year.
Most Overhyped program: It's not on the list, but definately 1 vs 100.
Lowest common denominator entertainment at it's worst.
Most underrated program: Shameless.
Watching the adventures of the Gallagher family each week is always a complete riot. Honourable Mention: Extras. Not as good as The Office, but far superior to many of the comic offerings on TV at the moment.
Most jerked around by the networks: Scrubs.
Consistently funny show with real depth. Honourable Mention: The Sopranos. This is a show that definately belongs on the ABC or SBS where it would be treated with respect. One of the best television dramas created.
Furthest past useby date:
It's time to go... Bert Newton.
20 to 1 is still 5 times more entertaining that 1 vs 100 but that's not saying much. Bert's Family feud is a format even more tired than its host. Honourable mention: Andy G.
Most unnecessary TV Personality:
Hotdogs. (Further explanation is unnecessary) Honourable Mention: Cam Knight (The Comedy Channel)
Lets just hope he stays contained to Foxtel. Even that is too much exposure for this most unentertaining of "comedians" (I use the term comedians very loosely) I pull my hair out everytime I see him mugging at the camera.
Best Botox: Richard Wilkins.
Worst Network: Nine.
The Black Bogie: Eddie Everywhere.
Most embarrassing program of the past 12 months: Big brother - where on earth do they find these people!

I hope seven havent just shot itself in the foot, i have just read next sundays line up ... and i hope they havent shot their shows in the foot putting them up against the logies,
Posted by: Guy at April 29, 2007 1:10 PM
Guy, I think Seven are very smart - thank goodness there will be something decent to watch. Surely the vigour with which people on this blog have nominated and voted for the Bogies goes to show their disdain for the Logies. I for one am not remotely interested in who wins the Gold Logie or any other Logie for that matter. Boring boring boring.
Most embarrassing program of the past 12 months: Today Tonight - Anna Coren needs to get out before she ends up a joke like Naomi Robson.

3.Sunrise..There was only one Bryant Gumble and Jane Pauley.Let them RIP. Please.
4. Anything to do with Sam Newman.
5. Shows that go on endlessly eg Prison Break, Lost.
6. Fat people that only get the gumption to lose weight with the chance to be on TV and a prize.
7. The Australian public for devouring this rubbish. Raise your standards.
8. The commercial networks for sourcing the crap in the first place.

To all complainents
Long live DVD's and the Net. No more moronic tv execs will ruin my shows and in future will be buying/downloading anything of interest rather than watching ad-laden, jerked around garbage from the networks.
Eddie Mc - Black bogie.
Amongst his other interests, he needs to be a TV host or a TV CEO. He's proven over the past months that he cannot do both. 1 v 100 is absolutely shocking and his hosting of it is beyond pathetic. Watch the likes of Andrew O'Keefe and Ed Phillips. They're cheese and he's chalk.
All I watch on tv is Boston Legal. Great show, intelligent and humorous.
As for Naomi Robson, why don’t you people leave her alone. I am sure she was under tremendous stress to cater for the audience, the same audience that now criticises her. Take a look at yourselves before you criticise others (HINT: peak hour traffic, merging traffic and pure common sense which most Australians have forgotten)
Please, please, please can you post this as an actual full internet poll. It would be excellent fun!!
Glad to see THE FAMILY GUY receive so much praise. The show is absolutely brilliant! Can't wait for season 6 on DVD.
You think you would have set up a proper voting page? I mean come on... nice online strategy Fairfax...

I like how these responses say more about the commenters than they do about the shows. I'm pretty sure 'most overhyped' is a list of shows that are getting hype - and viewers - but some commenters don't care for, while worst network is anyone but the ABC because criticising the ABC makes you look anti-intellectual.
Most embarrassing program of the past 12 months: A current affair and Today Tonight.
Most overhyped program: Anything on channel 7- Ugly Betty, Lost, Grey's Anatomy, Heroes etc.
Most underrated program: Battlestar Galactica (it was voted best drama of the year by Time magazine and it won a Peabody award yet people and the networks don't give it a go because it's scifi)
Most jerked around by the networks: Most of the good shows like Battlestar Galactica, The Sopranos, Six feet under, The Office etc.
Furthest past use-by date: McLeod's Daughters, Home and Away, Big Brother and those awful weight loss programs.
Most unnecessary TV personality: All of them are pretty bad.

(It's time to retire this awful misanthropic program.)
Most underrated program: Boston Legal.
(Smart, funny, subtle, dynamic cast. Excellent storylines).
Most jerked around by the networks: Stargate.
(For that matetr any Science-Fiction/Fantasy programs are relegated to late-night slots in the stupid hope that it will drag viewers to that time-slot. Then, they are moved, bumped, delayed, for whatever 'special' - or marginal sports 'event' that the network wants to push into that slot.)

(Her face seems frozen in a rictus expression of forced smiling)
Worst network: Seven, Ten.
(Overall it's a tie, for a programming horrors and a total disregard for viewers intelligence - the crowning glory which makes them both the absolute worst is their refusal to allow Foxtel to have their Electronic Program Guides, again disregading what the viwer wants, or perhaps that they cannot guarantee that their guides will be correct at any time of the day.)
The Black Bogie: Naomi Robson.
(Subtitled: "Insult to the word 'Journalist'")
As a whinging Pom may I say that Channel 10 has to be the worst TV programme I have ever seen. Not only does it not stick to schedule but it has such poor programmes, mostly from the States, which warrant it to be called "The Channel for the Brain-Dead"
